HYDE-SMITH WELCOMES MISSISSIPPI FSA STATE COMMITTEE APPOINTEES

Trump Administration Names Five Mississippians to Board Overseeing USDA Farm Programs

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.) today welcomed the Trump administration’s appointment of five Mississippians to serve on the Mississippi USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) State Committee.

Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins on Tuesday announced that Robert J. Moody of Louisville will chair the Mississippi FSA State Committee with members Scott Flowers of Clarksdale, Roy Gale Martin of Brandon, Andrew Prosser of Madison, and Rita Seward of Lucedale.  Hyde-Smith recommended these Mississippians to USDA and the White House for consideration.

“County FSA offices play such a key role in the on-the-ground implementation of agricultural policies, so the state committee has an important role in providing insights and oversight of how these programs work in Mississippi.  I am confident these appointees, with their broad and diverse expertise, will serve well in helping our agricultural interests through thick and thin,” said Hyde-Smith, who serves on the Senate Agriculture Committee and Senate Agriculture Appropriations Subcommittee.

The FSA State Committee is responsible for the oversight of farm programs and county committee operations, resolving program delivery appeals from the agriculture community, maintaining cooperative relations with industry stakeholders, and keeping producers informed about current FSA programs.
