Left can't define 'woman' … but pretends to be pro-family

Liberals are getting a bad rap – and deservedly so, say conservatives – for their over-the-top "wokeness" on issues affecting families.
For example, Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Mississippi) has reintroduced a resolution to establish a Women's Bill of Rights – but she doesn't expect any support from the other side of the political aisle. "It's so unbelievable that this is necessary, but it truly is – and that's what we want to set out to do," Senator Hyde-Smith told the "Washington Watch with Tony Perkins" program recently.
The senator explained that her resolution would affirm legal protections afforded to women under federal law, ensuring that "womanhood is not erased by the 'woke' left's reckless attempts to be inclusive."
Representative Debbie Lesko (R-Arizona) has introduced a companion measure that asserts a women's bill of rights is needed because of "misguided rulings relating to the definition of 'sex' that have led to the endangerment of spaces and resources dedicated to women." Lesko argues that protecting women's rights shouldn't be a partisan issue – "yet the Left cannot even define the word 'woman.'"
Hyde-Smith stated during her radio interview Wednesday that "when you have people referring to 'birthing people' instead of a 'woman' or a 'mother'; and you know the sex of an individual, male and female, the biological sex as they were born – it's just very important for a clear definition."
Cosponsors with Hyde-Smith include Senators Marco Rubio (R-Florida), Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyoming), Mike Lee (R-Utah), and Katie Britt (R-Alabama). Organizations supporting the resolution include Independent Women's Voice, Concerned Women for America, and Women's Liberation Front.
Asked whether she will get support from Democrats, Hyde-Smith said she hopes to, but she "would be very surprised." And her message to those who choose not to support the measure:
"Kids can pretend and adults are pretending here. You can pretend all day – but don't expect me to pretend with you."
Meanwhile, a traditional values organization has a response to leftists who put down those who want to protect transgender children. Jon Schweppe of the American Principles Project quotes a Monday tweet from Congresswoman Erin Healy (D-South Dakota) critical of Family Heritage Alliance – a pro-family group in her state.
"She said 'Extremist group Family Heritage Alliance said this morning that the safest place for kids are in families that have a married mom and dad. What a dangerous and un-American belief,'" says Shweppe.
He points out Democrats have been saying such things for a long time – and labeling any disagreement with their "radical, crazy progressive agenda" as hateful.
"Frankly, we need to be honest about it," Schweppe continues. "They're the hateful ones. They're the ones who are trying to hurt kids. They're the ones trying to hurt families [and] discriminate against Christians. We need to push back pretty aggressively, I think."
The Family Heritage Alliance opposes trans sterilization and mutilation surgery – a stance Schweppe says is plain common sense. "[But] the far-crazy media, Hollywood – all these folks are acting like this is the worst thing ever to prevent these kids from being sterilized, prevent them from being mutilated," he adds.
Schweppe says part of the pushback against liberals who support those things is simple: vote them out of office.
