GRENADA, Miss. – U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.) today highlighted the benefits of federal rural development programs as part of a greater effort to improve economic development in areas like Grenada County, which today celebrated the expansion of a major manufacturer.

Hyde-Smith participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a 288,000-square-foot expansion for Advanced Distributor Products, the leading national manufacturer of air conditioning coils and HVAC systems. It is a major employer in Grenada County.  In her remarks, the Senator pointed to the award of $455,400 in U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development grants that will help the county fortify its vehicular service fleet.

“The Advanced Distributor Products expansion is exciting because it signals future job growth and economic activity in Grenada County,” Hyde-Smith said.

“With such growth, there will be greater demands for county services, which is where USDA Rural Development programs come into play.  The USDA investment of $455,400 in Grenada County makes it a partner with the county to ensure it has the vehicles and equipment needed to serve the public,” she said.

Serving on the Senate Agriculture Committee and Senate Agriculture Appropriations Subcommittee, Hyde-Smith has supported strong funding for USDA Rural Development programs, including the Community Facilities Program grants that will support Grenada County’s replacement of outdated law enforcement, service, and maintenance vehicles.

“The Communities Facilities Program is helping counties across Mississippi improve healthcare, education, public safety, and public services for our citizens,” Hyde-Smith said.  “I will continue working to support the USDA programs that help rural communities with water and wastewater systems, broadband service, infrastructure, and economic development.”
