Senator Hyde-Smith delivers Thanksgiving message focusing on gratitude

By Magnolia State News

U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.) released a Thanksgiving message addressed to the people of Mississippi and the nation, emphasizing gratitude and community during the holiday season.

In her statement, Hyde-Smith expressed appreciation for the opportunity to pause and reflect on positive aspects of life, including family, community, and freedoms. She said, “In a way of saying thank you, I extend my warm wishes to everyone across Mississippi and our great nation as we gather with friends and loved ones this Thanksgiving.”

She highlighted the importance of recognizing blessings that shape American identity and values: “This American holiday gives us a chance to pause and notice the good that surrounds us in our families, our communities, and in the freedoms that shape our lives. These blessings remind us of who we are, what we stand for, and what we continue to work toward.”

Referencing Psalm 118, Hyde-Smith added encouragement for seeking positivity each day: “Psalm 118 tells us, ‘This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.’ It encourages us to look for the good in each day, not just in the moments that come easily.”

Hyde-Smith also acknowledged service members and first responders: “Today and every day, we hold deep gratitude for the brave men and women who serve our country, and for the first responders who stand ready in every community. Their dedication protects our way of life, and we honor the families who support them, especially when service keeps them apart during the holidays.”

She encouraged compassion toward those experiencing hardship: “Let us also keep close in our hearts those who are facing hard times — walking through loss, illness, or loneliness.”

The senator concluded by calling for generosity during Thanksgiving: “In the spirit of the season, may we choose generosity, offer kindness, and provide encouragement wherever it’s needed. These simple acts of care reflect the very best of the American spirit. My hope is that this season inspires us to live fully, to look for the good even when it’s hard to see, and to be grateful for the hope that carries us forward. Wishing you and your loved ones a Thanksgiving filled with warmth, gratitude, and peace. God bless you and Happy Thanksgiving!”
