Sen. Hyde-Smith visits Children’s Task Force, speaks at Petal prayer breakfast

Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith dropped by the Petal Children’s Task Force (PCTF) as part of a visit to the Friendly City Friday.
Hyde-Smith toured task force operations, which were founded in 1989.
Each month, the organization hands out more than 660 food boxes to families in need.
It also distributes United States Department of Agriculture food and assists members of the homeless community.
Before stopping by the PCTF, Hyde-Smith spoke at the annual Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast at the Petal Civic Center.
“In Petal, you’ve got great folks that are showing up, volunteering their time to come do this,” Hyde-Smith said. “There’s no more gratitude than to feed a child, and especially a child that’s a hungry child.”
The prayer breakfast was co-sponsored by the Petal Children’s Task Force and the City of Petal.
“We were very honored for her to be our speaker, and we were very honored that she came down to tour our facility,” PCTF Executive Director Demaris Lee said. “She could not believe what we’ve done, how we’ve expanded and how many people we serve now.”
