HYDE-SMITH STATEMENT ON EPA ACTION ON DICAMBA
Miss. Senator Welcomes Prospect of Greater Certainty, Strong Safeguards for Producers
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.) today issued the following statement welcoming the Environmental Protection Agency decision to reissue new dicamba use guidelines for dicamba-tolerant soybeans and cotton:
“After leading the call from members of Congress for timely action, I am pleased the EPA has delivered this decision on the use of dicamba. It will provide much-needed certainty for growers as they plan for the new crop year and make critical decisions on seed and crop inputs. Our farmers need regulatory clarity, not last-minute uncertainty, and this decision will help ensure they can continue producing safe, affordable food and fiber for our nation. I appreciate Administrator Lee Zeldin’s leadership and his willingness to listen to the concerns of farmers who rely on crop protection tools like dicamba.”
Hyde-Smith serves on the Senate Agriculture Committee as well as the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture.
