Senator Cindy-Hyde Smith was in Forest last Wednesday. After touring the new Lackey Memorial Hospital Medical Arts Complex, she spoke to a joint meeting of the Forest Lions Club and Forest Rotary Club. Senator Hyde-Smith was very complimentary of the new medical complex and said it should be a model for other rural areas in the country to follow.

Bubby Johnston of Quitman was at Foothills in Forest on Wednesday where he held a book-signing for “The Thunder of Elephants,” a book that was started by his late father Erle Johnston and recently completed by Bubby. Lots of old friends enjoyed stopping by and visiting with Bubby and getting copies of the book.

Graduating last week with Special Distinction from Madison Central High School in Jackson was Mollie Elizabeth Lee. Among those attending the ceremony were her parents, Tom and Heather Lee, her brothers Tom III, Stephen, and John David, and grandparents, Judge and Mrs. Tom Lee of Forest and Madison. In the fall, Mollie plans to attend the University of Mississippi. Congratulations, Mollie!!

Allen and Mitzi Breland returned to Forest on Sunday after spending several days at the Mississippi Bankers Association annual convention in Sandestin.

Big family turn out for star athlete Kaden Brown’s high school graduation last week in Texas. Proud grandmother, Belinda Wheeler Seaney and Jeff Brown and his extended family gathered for this Texas size celebration.  Congratulations, Kaden — and all!!  We look forward to watching your career take off!

Congratulations to proud mom, Kathy Carr Emmons, mother of Anthony Curtis Emmons, who was recently named Oak Grove Middle School’s Teacher of the Year!  All acclaim, Anthony, you are one of the most dedicated and humble of teachers, and we couldn’t be prouder!  Congratulations!

Asking for continued prayers for Nancy Bramlett, as she continues to improve, following her most recent out patient procedure.  Get well soon!!

Jim McCormick of Atlanta, Georgia, was in Forest over the weekend.

Three ol’ Bearcats were reportedly  trying to make par and having fun at the Quitman Country Club last week. Host Bubby Johnston, along with Greg Broadhead and Ben Morehead enjoyed a fun day!

Thinking of Tyke Sims, youngest son of Terry and Merridy McKibbens Sims.  Tyke graduated from Fairhope West Kindergarten last week, and two days later was having his tonsils and adenoids taken out at the Mobile Infirmary!! Not the most fun way to begin his summer break! Get well soon!

Well wishes also go out to Carol Palmer Threadgill, as she recuperates from shoulder replacement surgery and graduates from twelve weeks of physical therapy. Her biggest incentive is to be in shape for Grandbaby #3’s arrival sometime in mid June!  Please keep us posted!
