Federal farm bill voted out of Senate committee

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The federal farm bill is only rewritten every five years. The latest version of the 2018 farm bill just passed out of a Senate Committee by a vote of 20-1.
 
Four amendments offered by Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-MS) will directly benefit Mississippi producers.

Raytheon makes $100 million Mississippi investment

A $100 million investment is coming to Mississippi after an announcement from Raytheon.

Raytheon, an industry-leading defense contractor, is expanding its radar manufacturing capabilities in Forest. The project is a $100 million corporate investment and will create dozens of direct jobs at the company’s Forest campus over the next five years.

State and national leaders gathered at Airbus' Lowndes County facility on Friday to celebrate hundreds of millions of dollars in new contracts for the company to build dozens of helicopters for the U.S. Army. 
 
U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Mississippi), one of the main speakers at Friday's event, said the company has received more than $500 million in contracts to build 71 helicopters.
