Senators Want Ethanol Cuts in RFS Reset

With the ethanol industry in the United States already on the ropes with negative margins and lost demand from small refinery waivers to the Renewable Fuel Standard, a group of senators led by James Inhofe, R-Okla., is asking EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler to reset RFS volumes below the so-called blend wall.

The blend wall is reached when total ethanol production exceeds the E10 market for gasoline.

Local, state officials shocked by decision to not renew prison’s contract

NATCHEZ — Local and state officials expressed shock and disappointment at news that federal prison officials decided not to renew a contract for the Adams County Correctional Center.

The owner of the facility, CoreCivic, announced Wednesday that the Federal Bureau of Prisons has elected not to renew its contract for the prison on U.S. 84 east of Natchez.
